Little Charlie & The Nightcats

Little Charlie & The Nightcats, a band steeped in the traditions of blues, jazz, and swing, were formed in Sacramento, California, in the mid-1970s. Founded by guitarist Little Charlie Baty and harmonica player Rick Estrin, the band quickly established themselves in the vibrant West Coast blues scene. Their sound was a refreshing blend of sharp musicianship and witty songwriting, marrying traditional blues structures with the excitement of jump blues and swing, earning them a loyal following among blues aficionados.

Over the years, Little Charlie & The Nightcats released a series of well-received albums that showcased their dexterity in a variety of blues styles. Albums such as "All The Way Crazy" and "Disturbing the Peace" set the tone for their career, balancing between rollicking, energetic numbers and soulful, introspective tracks. The band's line-up evolved, with Baty exiting the group in 2008 to be replaced by guitarist Kid Andersen, but the foundational ethos of expertly played, good-time music remained intact. Little Charlie & The Nightcats were particularly known for their electrifying live performances, captured in the album "Captured Live", witnessing the band's dynamic interplay and showmanship that cemented their reputation as one of the most entertaining acts on the blues circuit.
