Theo Adam

Theo Adam was a celebrated German bass-baritone known for his commanding stage presence and powerful voice, particularly in the works of Wagner. Born in 1926 in Dresden, Adam had a long and distinguished career as both a singer and actor, making a strong impression in iconic roles such as Wotan in Wagner’s Ring cycle and the title role in The Flying Dutchman. He was closely associated with major German opera houses and festivals, especially Bayreuth, where his interpretations of Wagnerian characters became legendary.
