Rabasa is a vibrant band deeply rooted in Cape Verdean musical traditions, founded in 1998 by the Ortet brothers, who spent their childhood near a water source named Rabasa in Cape Verde. This name symbolizes the rich musical heritage that inspires their work. Over the years, the band has expanded to include talented musicians like Terezinha Fernandes, Hans de Lange, and Mike Shakison. Their lineup has evolved, with changes such as Mike Shakison briefly leaving and returning, while original members like the Ortet brothers remain integral to the group.

Rabasa's music reflects their strong connection to Cape Verdean culture, with influences from collaborations with prominent artists like Américo Brito, Ildo Lobo, and Luis Morais.
