Harry Allen is an American jazz tenor saxophonist born in Washington, D.C., on October 12, 1966. Often lauded for his rich, warm tones and masterful command of swing, Allen has been a prominent figure on the jazz scene since his emergence. Heavily influenced by earlier jazz legends like Stan Getz and Lester Young, he has been described as a throwback to the golden age of jazz given his penchant for melody and lyrical solos.
Throughout his prolific career, Allen has recorded over 70 CDs as a leader and many others as a sideman, working with jazz greats such as Rosemary Clooney, Ray Brown, Hank Jones, Frank Wess, Flip Phillips, Kenny Barron, and many others.
