Karl Doppler (1825-1900) was a Hungarian flutist, composer, and conductor. He was born in Lemberg, Austria-Hungary (now Lviv, Ukraine), and studied flute with his father, Franz Doppler. Karl Doppler made his debut as a flutist at the age of 15 and quickly became one of the most celebrated flutists of his time. He toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States, and his compositions for flute are still widely performed today. Doppler also served as the conductor of the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra from 1865 to 1875.
