Mirko Ludwig

Mirko Ludwig is a German tenor known for his exceptional work in concert and historically informed performances, especially in Baroque and early music. Born in Hamburg, he began his musical journey singing as a boy soprano with the Chorknaben Uetersen. He trained at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, where he studied with teachers including Thomas Mohr and Krisztina Láki and deepened his expertise in historical performance under Manfred Cordes and Detlef Bratschke.

Ludwig is acclaimed both for his solo concert work—often performing major oratorio parts like the Evangelist in Bach’s works—and as a member of the award-winning vocal ensemble Quartonal, which has won prestigious competitions like the Deutschen Chorwettbewerb. His versatility allows him to sing tenor parts as well as high tenor-alto registers in early music repertoire. He also has operatic experience with roles in Mozart, Britten, and Offenbach, adding to a diverse and vibrant performance career. Notably, he performed at the opening concert of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg in 2017 and continues to record extensively for major labels like Sony Classical and Deutsche Grammophon.
