Al Cisneros
Al Cisneros is best known as the bassist and vocalist for the influential stoner/doom metal bands Sleep and Om. With Sleep, he helped pioneer a sludgy, heavy sound that became a cornerstone of the stoner metal genre, especially with their landmark album "Dopesmoker." After Sleep initially disbanded, Cisneros founded Om, a stripped-down, spiritual-heavy act that blends elements of drone, dub, and Eastern mysticism, where he continued to evolve his signature hypnotic bass lines and meditative vocal style.
Beyond his band work, Al Cisneros has also released solo material that dives even deeper into dub and experimental territories, showcasing a minimalist yet deeply immersive sonic palette. His solo releases, such as "Rosin" and "Suicide of Judas/Akeldama," reflect his ongoing exploration of spiritual and philosophical themes through music. Known for his distinctive tone and transcendent live performances, Cisneros has carved out a unique space in heavy music that's as much about introspection as volume.
