The Coathangers

The Coathangers are an all-female punk rock band that emerged from Atlanta, Georgia, embodying the raucous spirit and raw energy of punk's DIY ethos. Formed in 2006, the trio started as a spirited endeavor among friends - Julia Kugel (guitar/vocals), Meredith Franco (bass/vocals), and Stephanie Luke (drums/vocals) - who had little to no musical experience at the time. However, these limitations did not hinder their progress; instead, they harnessed that lack of pretension to fuel their gritty and unapologetic sound.

Over the years, The Coathangers have evolved from their playful and unruly beginnings into a force to be reckoned with, refining their sound without losing the spontaneous and unfiltered edge that makes them unique. Fueled by a blend of snarling guitars, driving rhythms, and harmoniously sharp vocals, they've released several albums and EPS, including "Nosebleed Weekend" and "The Devil You Know." With titles like "F the NRA" and "Gettin’ Mad and Pumpin’ Iron," their work often reflects a heady mix of empowering themes and sociopolitical commentary. With a reputation for blistering live performances, The Coathangers continue to embody the transformative power of punk, with music that is both personal and politically charged.
