Dana Protopopescu is a renowned Romanian pianist who has made a significant impact in the international music scene. Born in Romania, she began her musical journey at a young age and made her orchestral debut at just 16. A student of Karl Engel, Dana has collaborated with prominent conductors like Horia Andreescu and Louis Langrée, as well as esteemed musicians such as violinists Augustin Dumay and Liviu Prunaru, and cellists Gary Hoffman and Frans Helmerson. She has performed at numerous prestigious festivals and venues worldwide, including the Enescu Festival, the Ravello Festival, and concert halls in cities like Paris, London, and Washington D.C..
Dana Protopopescu is also a prolific recording artist, having released notable works such as the Complete Beethoven Violin Sonatas and the three Grieg Sonatas with Liviu Prunaru. Her recordings have garnered critical acclaim, including the Complete Piano Works of Mendelssohn and concertos by Clara Schumann, Hummel, and Weber. Currently, Dana is affiliated with the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium, where she serves as a coach and accompanist.
