Michalis Terlikkas

Michalis Terlikkas is a renowned Cypriot musician and researcher, born in 1955 in the village of Kapouti near Morphou, Cyprus. He was forced to leave his home during the 1974 Turkish invasion. Terlikkas developed an interest in music from a young age and studied under notable figures like Andreas Mappouras and Theodoulos Kallinikos. He has been a key figure in preserving and promoting Cypriot traditional music, creating an extensive archive by recording elderly musicians across Cyprus. Since 1990, he has led the Mousa music troupe, which performs using traditional Cypriot instruments both locally and internationally.

Terlikkas has released several albums, including *Kypraia Foni – Paradosiaka tragoudia tis Kyprou* and *Ton Gennon tzai tis Lambris*, showcasing his dedication to Cypriot folk music. He has also participated in numerous international events and festivals, receiving the I.G.F. Gold Star Ex Oscar Award in 2017 for his contributions to traditional folk culture. Additionally, Terlikkas has been involved in theater and film projects, further highlighting his versatility as an artist.
