Sindy Mohamed is a dynamic French-Egyptian violist born in Marseille in 1992, known for her expressive playing and innovative approach to the viola. Starting viola lessons at age eight despite not coming from a musical family, she has developed into one of the most sought-after young musicians of her generation. Sindy studied at prestigious institutions including the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, and Kronberg Academy with Tabea Zimmermann. She has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at prominent festivals worldwide and has collaborated with top artists like Daniel Barenboim, Isabelle Faust, and Michael Barenboim.
Her debut album, *Farasha*, released on Berlin Classics, reflects her unique blend of Western classical music and Arabic influences, featuring works that explore the viola’s rich and versatile sound, including pieces by Saint-Saëns and collaborations with Egyptian composer Khaled Al Kammar. Often praised for her intuitive and passionate performances, Sindy continues to expand the viola’s possibilities while sharing her cultural roots through music. She is also an active member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim and frequently performs in chamber ensembles, connecting world music traditions.
