Jacques Morelenbaum is a Brazilian cellist, arranger, composer, and producer known for his versatile contributions to Brazilian music and beyond. A longtime collaborator of Antônio Carlos Jobim, Morelenbaum was also a member of the legendary group Nova Banda, which supported Jobim in the later stages of his career. He has worked with a wide range of artists, from Caetano Veloso and Gal Costa to international icons like Ryuichi Sakamoto, with whom he has shared numerous collaborative projects blending classical, Brazilian, and ambient elements.
Morelenbaum is celebrated for his warm cello tone and sensitive, sophisticated arrangements that bring a lush, cinematic quality to his recordings. He is also part of the ensemble Morelenbaum²/Sakamoto, a trio that explores the fusion of Brazilian music with classical and minimalist textures.
