Valentina Valente is an Italian soprano known for her versatility and expressive power, especially noted as the first Italian singer to perform Alban Berg’s *Lulu* in the original language. She started studying violin very young and later transitioned to voice, graduating from the Conservatorio "N. Paganini" in Genoa. Valente has built a strong international career, performing at prestigious venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie, Salzburg Festival, Vienna State Opera, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, La Monnaie in Brussels, and La Scala in Milan. Since her debut in 1993 under Claudio Abbado at Berlin Philharmonic in Mussorgsky's *Boris Godunov*, she has been praised for her compelling interpretations of a wide-ranging operatic and lieder repertoire, including Handel, Monteverdi, Mozart, and beyond.
Besides her singing career, Valente is also a linguist who graduated in German and Arabic literature, founding the publishing house Analogon. She has contributed scholarly work by editing and translating important vocal literature and poetry, underlining her deep artistic commitment both on stage and in academia.
