Japanese Breakfast

Japanese Breakfast is the solo musical project of Korean-American musician, director, and author Michelle Zauner. Having started her musical career in various bands, Zauner's work as Japanese Breakfast gained traction with the release of her debut studio album "Psychopomp" in 2016, followed by "Soft Sounds from Another Planet" in 2017. The project is known for its eclectic blend of indie pop, experimental rock, and lo-fi elements, all underpinned by Zauner's intimate lyricism and dreamy, otherworldly production.

In 2021, Japanese Breakfast released "Jubilee," a critically acclaimed album that demonstrated a celebratory and joyous turn, both thematically and sonically, contrast to Zauner's earlier works that often focused on themes of grief and loss. Alongside her musical endeavors, Zauner has also explored other forms of artistic expression, venturing into the realm of video game soundtracks with her work on "Sable" and publishing a memoir titled "Crying in H Mart," which further solidifies her multifaceted talent. From lush studio albums to Spotify Singles, Zauner's Japanese Breakfast project has established her as a unique voice in the indie music scene, continuously evolving and surprising her audience with each release.
