Set Fire to Flames is a Canadian experimental music collective hailing from Montreal, Quebec. The group sprung from the vibrant early 2000s post-rock scene, closely associated with other stalwart bands in the genre. Formed by David Bryant, the ensemble consists of a revolving cast of musicians, many of whom are also part of the acclaimed post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor. With a tendency towards the creation of sprawling sonic landscapes, their music is characterized by a mixture of orchestral instruments, electronic manipulations, and field recordings, often resulting in a brooding and intensely atmospheric experience.

The collective's discography, though sparse, is profoundly impactful among fans and critics of avant-garde music. Their debut album, "Sings Reign Rebuilder" (2001), recorded in a century-old house, forged a path for their textured and chaotic sound. It was followed by the ambitiously fragmented double album "Telegraphs in Negative / Mouths Trapped in Static" (2003), which further explored the group's introspective and deconstructive approach to composition. Their most recent endeavor, "barn levitate", although lesser known, is a further testament to their ongoing pursuit of crafting soundscapes that defy conventional musical structures, maintaining their status as elusive yet influential artisans within the experimental music community.
