Lunar Drive

Lunar Drive is a unique band known for blending U.K.-style dance beats with traditional Native American music. The group's members are based in London, England, Flagstaff, Arizona, and Standing Rock, South Dakota, often collaborating remotely through the internet and international mail. The band's origins began with Sandy Hoover, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who discovered traditional Native American music while living on the southern Ute reservation. After honing her DJing skills in London, Hoover returned to Arizona and collaborated with local musicians, eventually co-producing their debut album "Here at Black Rock Arizona" with Nick Page from Transglobal Underground. Later releases, such as "All Together Here," featured collaborations with various Native American artists like Ed Walksnice, Rey Cantil, and Rueben Fast Horse.

Lunar Drive's music reflects a forward-thinking approach, combining electronic dance elements with rich cultural influences from Native American traditions. Their work often involves remixing and reinterpreting traditional sounds, as seen in tracks like "Powwow Banger" and its remixes. The band's eclectic style and collaborative approach have allowed them to create a distinctive sound that bridges cultural divides.
