Peter Rehberg

Peter Rehberg, born in London in 1968, was a pioneering electronic musician known for his work in the experimental music scene. He moved to Vienna in the 1990s, where he began his career amidst the emerging "laptop music" movement. Rehberg was renowned for his collaborations with artists such as Jim O'Rourke, Christian Fennesz, Stephen O'Malley, and Nik Void, forming groups like Fenn O'Berg, KTL, R/S, and NPVR. He was also the founder of the influential label Editions Mego, which played a crucial role in disseminating experimental music globally. His music often featured in contemporary dance and theatre productions, notably with choreographer Gisèle Vienne. Rehberg passed away on July 22, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of innovative and expressive musical contributions.

Rehberg's musical style evolved over time, transitioning from laptop music to incorporating modular synthesis. His performances were marked by a unique blend of sonic abrasions and emotional depth, often described as "portrait music" that reflected his personality. His recent releases include titles like *Liminal States* and *Work For GV 2004-2008*, showcasing his continued innovation in electronic music.
