Gharam Electric is a music project from Beirut, Lebanon, founded by Wassim Bou Malham. The project aims to redefine Arabic music by blending it with modern styles such as funk, jazz, electronic, hip-hop, and R&B, creating a unique sound dubbed "Futuro-Arab." This genre combines rich Arabic lyrics with contemporary musical elements, making it both fun and approachable for a wide audience. Malham, known for his work in the Lebanese indie rock band Who Killed Bruce Lee and as a DJ, sought to create music that could be enjoyed in clubs and was inspired by the lack of Arabic rockstars during his youth. Gharam Electric's debut album features collaborations with several regional musicians and has been praised for its innovative approach to Arabic music.
Gharam Electric's music often features smooth vocals, infectious basslines, and a mix of electronic and traditional Eastern melodies. Recent releases include tracks like "Mozza" and "Ya Boy," showcasing the project's versatility and creativity in blending different musical styles. With a focus on creating a fresh, danceable sound, Gharam Electric is pushing the boundaries of Arabic music and paving the way for new artistic expressions in the region.
