Waylon Thibodeaux

Waylon Thibodeaux, known as “Louisiana’s Rockin Fiddler,” hails from Houma in Louisiana’s Bayou Country, just southwest of New Orleans. He’s a self-taught Cajun musician who began playing music at age eight and won the Louisiana State Fiddle Championship at sixteen. Over the years, he’s built a reputation as one of Louisiana’s most popular recording artists, known for his lively, high-energy performances that blend Cajun, Zydeco, New Orleans sounds, Swamp Pop, Country, and Rock ’n’ Roll. Waylon has toured widely, playing festivals and clubs across the U.S., Canada, France, and Central and South America, captivating audiences with his mix of traditional and progressive Louisiana music.

Starting as a drummer, Waylon switched to fiddle inspired by greats like Johnny Gimble and Stephan Grappelli. His music career kicked off on New Orleans’ Bourbon Street, where he became a fixture. With over 25 years as a full-time musician, Waylon also is a member of the Voice of The Wetlands All-Stars, a supergroup advocating for Louisiana’s threatened wetlands. His albums, such as “Live From The Cajun Festival,” “Like a Real Cajun,” and “Who’s Yo’ Cher Be’ Be’,” showcase his signature spicy sound sure to get listeners on their feet. Waylon also shares Cajun culture through storytelling and workshops, helping preserve the rich musical heritage of Louisiana.
