Tristan Perich

Tristan Perich is a New York-based composer and sound artist known for blending the worlds of acoustic instrumentation and digital precision. He’s particularly recognized for his innovative work with 1-bit electronics—technology so minimal it processes just the on/off binary at the core of computing. His compositions often feature custom-built electronics that emit pure digital tones, alongside traditional instruments, creating a unique fusion of mechanical and human expression.

A founder of the avant-garde music collective Bang on a Can, Perich has released critically acclaimed works like Drift Multiply, where 50 violins perform with 50 channels of 1-bit sound, and Noise Patterns, which explores rhythmic textures using code-generated noise. He’s also known for releasing music in unconventional formats, such as albums that come embedded in microchips. Through his work, Perich pushes the boundaries of what constitutes music and sound, continuously exploring the intersection of math, physics, and art.
