MC Fats, whose real name was Wildale Spencer, was a pioneering figure in the drum & bass and jungle scenes. Hailing from a background in soul, rare groove, and reggae, he brought a unique style to his performances, which spanned multiple sub-genres of drum & bass. Known for his powerful voice and versatility, MC Fats collaborated with hundreds of artists, contributing to iconic tracks like DJ Hype’s ‘Peace Love and Unity’, A-Side’s ‘What You Don’t Know’, and Dillinja’s ‘I Told You How To Rock’. His extensive discography includes releases on prominent labels such as Eastside, Shogun Audio, Metalheadz, and V Recordings. In 2014, he released his debut album ‘We Gotcha’ on his own imprint U Understand Me Music, featuring collaborations with artists like Break, SPY, and Alix Perez.

MC Fats continued to release music until his passing in March 2023, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most respected vocalists in drum & bass. His recent releases, such as ‘Natural Way’ and ‘Brand New Style’, showcased his enduring influence on the genre. Despite health complications that limited his performances, his music remains a testament to his dedication and impact on the drum & bass scene.
