Roar is the art pop project of singer and multi-instrumentalist Owen Evans from Phoenix, Arizona. Evans started Roar in 2010 following the dissolution of his former band, Asleep in the Sea. He chose the name Roar because it was the least Google-friendly option, allowing him to maintain a solo project that wouldn't break up like a traditional band. Roar's music is influenced by '60s pop, psychedelic sounds, and '80s and '90s rock and indie artists. Some of his notable releases include *I Can't Handle Change* and *I'm Not Here to Make Friends*. Evans often performs live with a large roster of musicians, including members of Andrew Jackson Jihad.
Owen Evans' approach to music is characterized by his meticulous songwriting process, where he values each completed song. He has been active in the music scene for over a decade, navigating changes in music consumption with the rise of streaming platforms. Despite the challenges, Evans continues to create music that reflects his unique blend of influences and personal style.
