Potshot

Potshot is a Japanese ska-punk band formed in 1995, led by vocalist and songwriter Ryoji Ariga. Originally from Tokyo, they were known for their energetic sound, which blended melodious and sing-along elements with ska horns. The band's music often featured catchy pop hooks and traditional ska chants like "Oi-Oi-Oi!" Their lyrics were often delivered in barely intelligible English, adding to their unique style. Some of their notable albums include **Pots and Shots** (1997), **Til I Die** (2000), **A-Go Go** (2002), and **Dance to the Potshot Record** (2004). Potshot gained a cult following and released their final album, **Potshot Beat Goes On**, in 2005 before disbanding.

Potshot's career was marked by their fusion of ska and punk, drawing comparisons to bands like Screeching Weasel and Operation Ivy. Their music was released on labels such as Asian Man Records and their own TV-Freak Records. Despite disbanding in 2005, they continue to have a dedicated fan base. Their music remains popular for its infectious energy and distinctive sound.
