Raj Montana Band

Raj Montana Band is a Swedish pop and rock group known primarily for serving as the backing band for celebrated Swedish singers Dan Hylander and Py Bäckman. Originally named "Raj Montana and his Moonlight Boys," the band gained prominence in the early 1980s with a signature adult rock sound, featuring members like Pelle Alsing (drums), Clarence Öfwerman (keyboards), David Carlson (guitar), Ola Johansson (bass), and Hasse Olsson (organ and keyboards). They released several albums, including *Döende oskuld* (1980) and *Bella notte* (1982), and enjoyed notable chart success in Sweden during that period. After disbanding in 1985, they reunited in 1997 for tours and compilation releases. The band is considered part of the "Studioeliten," a group of distinguished Swedish studio musicians, and has played a significant role in Sweden's rock and pop scene.

Their collaborations, especially with Dan Hylander, helped shape the sound of Swedish pop-rock in the 1980s, with Hylander winning the "Rockbjörnen" award as Sweden's male artist of the year in 1984 during their heyday. The band has had occasional reunions since then, including a reformation in 2018 to play gigs and plan new material. Raj Montana Band remains a respected name in Swedish music history for their blend of rock, melodic pop, and instrumental proficiency.
