Joan Casares

Joan Casares is a skilled jazz drummer from a family of musicians. His early years involved self-taught drumming, followed by formal lessons with Aldo Caviglia, preparing him for studies at Esmuc. There, he was taught by Jo Krause and David Xirgu. He furthered his education with a master's degree at Conservatorium Van Amsterdam and Temple University, studying under renowned drummers like Rodney Green. Additionally, he received lessons from the prestigious master Kenny Washington in New York City.

As an active musician, Joan Casares has collaborated with several bands, including Smack Dab, Casares Brothers Trio, and The Bop Collective. His work with Smack Dab led to the release of albums like "Smack Dab" and "Smack 7 Dab," featuring original compositions. Casares has won various awards, such as the Dutch Jazz Competition audience award in 2018 and the Young Talent Award by AMJM in 2022. His projects often emphasize original music, reflecting his dedication to innovative jazz performances.
