Dominique Pifarély is a French jazz violinist born in 1957 who has made a significant impact on the European jazz and avant-garde music scenes since the late 1970s. Known for his innovative approach to the violin, Pifarély seamlessly blends classical techniques with contemporary jazz improvisation.
Throughout his career, Pifarély has collaborated with numerous notable musicians, including Louis Sclavis, with whom he formed the Sclavis/Pifarély Acoustic Quartet in the 1990s. He's also worked extensively with pianist François Couturier, releasing albums on the prestigious ECM label. Pifarély's music often draws inspiration from poetry and literature, as evidenced by his solo album "Time Before and Time After," which borrows its title from a T.S. Eliot poem.
