Harvey Danger was an American alternative rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1993 by journalism students at the University of Washington. The lineup consisted of Sean Nelson (vocals), Jeff Lin (guitar, violin, keyboards), Aaron Huffman (bass) and Evan Sult (drums). They gained widespread recognition with their 1997 hit single "Flagpole Sitta," off their debut album "Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone?" which became an anthem of teenage angst and a staple on alternative radio stations during the late '90s.
The band followed up with their sophomore effort, "King James Version," in 2000 which, despite positive reviews, failed to replicate the commercial success of their debut. Harvey Danger continued to cultivate a loyal fan base with their intelligent lyrics and potent indie rock sound. After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, they returned with "Little By Little..." in 2005, offering the album for free download on their website — an innovative move at the time that reflected the changing dynamics of the music industry. Harvey Danger ultimately decided to disband in 2009, but not without releasing a final single, "The Show Must Not Go On," which served as a fitting and poignant farewell to their fans. Even after their disbandment, Harvey Danger's influence and the legacy of "Flagpole Sitta" remain indelible in the realm of alternative rock.
