His solo work, including his debut release *Horseplay* (2025) and *It's Mustang Time!* (2024), showcases a soulful, vintage sound that nods to the ’60s and ’70s while mixing in modern alt-country and indie flavors. Recorded in Memphis’ iconic Royal Studios, his music channels deep roots in southern sounds with touches of Steely Dan-style yacht rock and Grateful Dead-inspired jams that highlight his versatile vocals and bass playing.

Known affectionately as a mustachioed bassist who identifies as a horse, Mustang McGee captures the nostalgia of his hometown’s musical history while pushing forward with a fresh, contemporary vibe.
