Spasmodique

Spasmodique is an underground rock band from Rotterdam, Netherlands, formed in 1981. The band gained a legendary status over more than 40 years, known for their relentless live performances throughout Europe during the 1980s and early 1990s. Their original lineup included Mark Ritsema on vocals and guitar, Arjo Hijmans on guitar, Martin Docters van Leeuwen on bass, and Reinier Rietveld on drums. They released several notable albums, including "From the Cellar of Roses," "North," "Haven," and "Villa Delirium." The band briefly disbanded in the 1990s but reunited in the late 1990s to continue creating music. In recent years, Spasmodique released "Six" in 2016 and "Hold On To A Scream" in 2023, showcasing their enduring creative output.

Spasmodique's music career has been marked by periods of hiatus and reunions. The band's history is filled with lineup changes and creative explorations. Despite being categorized as an underground band, Spasmodique has maintained a loyal audience and continues to produce new music. Their latest album, "Hold On To A Scream," was released on Record Store Day in 2023 and features eight new tracks, highlighting their continued relevance in the music scene.
