Zoran Starcevic Stari

Zoran Starčević Stari is a renowned Serbian musician, composer, and guitarist known for his diverse musical contributions. Born in 1958, he is celebrated as one of the most productive and original guitarists in the Balkans. His music blends traditional Eastern folk with Western rock elements, improvisation, and modern styles. Over his career, he has composed and recorded hundreds of songs, many of which have become hits performed by prominent Serbian singers. Starčević is also known for his instrumental work, including numerous albums featuring Balkan folk music and guitar-based compositions. He has collaborated with various artists and has been involved in projects such as the formation of the "Trio Balkanske žice" with his sons Nikola and Željko.

Starčević's musical journey began without formal guitar training, as he was largely self-taught. He started his career playing rock music and later transitioned to folk, becoming a key figure in enriching Serbian folk music with his guitar melodies and arrangements. His notable compositions include "Bre gidi džanum" and "Ako me ostaviš," among many others. Starčević has also worked on several cocktail albums featuring collaborations with prominent folk singers.
