Randy Raine-Reusch

Randy Raine-Reusch is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist, composer, and ethnomusicologist celebrated for his mastery of over 700 traditional instruments from across Asia and beyond. Known as a pioneer of world fusion music, he blends ancient sounds with modern experimentation, often using rare instruments like the Chinese *zhudi* (bamboo flute), Japanese *shō* (mouth organ), or his signature "bamboo sax." His recent releases—including *Eras* and *The Embrace of Time*—showcase his meditative, cinematic style, weaving together field recordings, ambient textures, and improvisations on instruments he often crafts himself. A collaborator with artists like Aerosmith and the Vancouver Symphony, Randy also composes for film/TV and teaches global music traditions, keeping endangered sonic legacies alive through his work.
