Ustad Muhammad Juman

Ustad Muhammad Juman was a celebrated Sindhi musician and classical singer from Pakistan, born on October 10, 1935, in the village of Sorra, Balochistan. His early life was deeply rooted in music, as his father, Haji Ahmed Sakhirani, was also a musician. Juman's career began with his role as a "Surando" player at Radio Pakistan, Karachi, but he soon transitioned into singing due to his distinctive voice. He received formal music training from prestigious mentors such as Ustad Nazar Hussain and Bade Wahid Ali Khan. Known for his renditions of Sufi mystic poets' works, particularly Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Juman's unique singing style was widely admired. He performed in numerous countries and received the Pride of Performance Award in 1980 for his contributions to music.

Juman's repertoire includes famous songs like "Yaar Dadhi Ishq Atish Lai Hai" and "Munhjo Mulk Maleer," showcasing his mastery of traditional Sindhi music. His performances were regularly featured on Pakistan Television, and he left a lasting impact on Sindhi music. Despite his untimely death on January 24, 1990, at the age of 54, his legacy endures, inspiring new generations of musicians. His son, Shafi Muhammad, has also followed in his footsteps, continuing the family's musical heritage. Some of his notable works continue to include "Karon Waas Kayam," "Raat Be Mehara Utha," which reflect his enduring influence on traditional music.
