Jacob Agar is a trained opera singer turned cantor known for blending his classical vocal skills with deep spiritual expression. He studied opera performance and linguistics at SUNY Purchase College and later received cantorial investiture from the H.L. Miller Cantorial School at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. After working with various opera companies, Jacob followed his passion for Judaism and Jewish music, becoming a cantor at Beth Sholom Congregation, the only synagogue in the U.S. designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. His performances aim to uplift and bring comfort through a fusion of traditional and contemporary Jewish liturgical music.
His work includes beautifully interpreted pieces like "Avinu Malkeinu," a High Holy Day prayer song, which showcases his ability to bridge classical and pop influences while offering a spiritual experience accessible to both religious and secular audiences. Jacob's music reflects his personal journey and commitment to using his voice as a source of healing and connection through faith.
