Hatcham Social

Hatcham Social emerged from South East London's indie scene in the mid-2000s, blending jangly guitar hooks and post-punk energy with a knack for catchy, off-kilter pop. Fronted by Toby Kidd, the band carved out a cult following with their DIY spirit and literary-inspired lyrics, landing them in the same breath as acts like The Libertines and The Cribs. Their scrappy debut album, *You Dig The Tunnel, I’ll Hide The Soil* (2008), cemented their reputation for blending ramshackle charm with nods to ’80s indie legends like The Pastels.

Though never mainstream darlings, they’ve kept their quirky flame alive with recent releases like *We Are the Weirdos* and collaborations such as *Wild Creatures (Tim Burgess Version)*, proving their knack for reinvention. Tracks like *Lion with a Lazer Gun* and *All Summer Long (Harry Love Remix)* showcase their playful, genre-mixing ethos, while still clinging to the lo-fi romanticism that won over indie kids back in their Myspace-era heyday. A band forever dancing on the fringes, Hatcham Social remains a love letter to outsider pop.
