Chip Fu, born Roderick Roachford in Brooklyn with Trinidadian and Barbadian roots, is best known as a member of the influential 1990s hip-hop trio Fu-Schnickens. His early passion for music ignited after sneaking into sound clash parties as a child and receiving encouragement from members of the group UTFO. Chip Fu's rapid-fire delivery and Caribbean-influenced style made him stand out in the Brooklyn hip-hop scene, leading to notable collaborations with artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, and Queen Latifah. Beyond Fu-Schnickens, he pursued a solo career—releasing projects through his label Blaq-Ink, Inc.—and remained active contributing to other artists’ work while developing a unique brand blending old school hip hop with Caribbean flair.
In addition to music, Chip Fu has focused on education and community work. He created a hip-hop curriculum called M.A.A.T.H (Music Appreciation, Art Time, and Healing) designed to uplift students and promote learning through culture. With a background that also includes degrees in physical therapy and wellness, Chip Fu balances artistry with entrepreneurship and social impact. His recent releases such as *The Beginning of the Reckoning* and singles like "Like Us (Uh Huh)" show he continues to evolve as an independent artist, staying true to his roots while innovating as Jungle Rock Jr.
