Abdelkebir Merchane, also known as Cheb, is a Gnawa musician from Marrakech, Morocco, born in 1951. He was initiated into the Gnawa tradition by masters such as El Ayachi, Baqbou, and Mohamed Sam. Merchane's style blends the *marsaoui* (Essaouira) and *Marrakchi* (Marrakech) styles, reflecting his diverse musical influences. He has participated in numerous international festivals across Europe, Arab countries, and Japan, and currently leads the Oulad Sidi H’mou group. His son, Hicham, is also a Gnawa master, continuing the family's musical legacy.
