Jarle Obrestad, born and raised in Obrestad on Norway's Jæren coast, is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter blending folk, rock, and Americana into a style he calls "Jæricana." Starting as a band musician in the 1970s with groups like Vind i Gardhol and Dei 2-3, he launched his solo career in 2018 with *Snipp, Snapp, Snute*, later releasing albums like *Jæricana* and the 2023 introspective *Ude Eller Inne?*, which features poetic collabs with lyricist Helge Torvund. In 2024, he formed Rock Vest, teaming up with Jan Terje Einarsmo to craft a new rock album set for release in 2025—including tracks like "Pakketur," merging Jæricana twang with gritty rock energy.
His work often sets local poetry to music, drawing from Jæren’s landscapes and collaborators like Gunnar Roalkvam. Whether through solo acoustic ballads or full-band rock, Obrestad’s storytelling—as heard in tracks like *Vegane* and *Tida er ei elv utan bredder*—anchors itself in Norway’s cultural soil while reaching for universal themes of memory and connection.
