Eliot Fisk

Eliot Fisk is a renowned classical guitarist known for his virtuosic technique and adventurous repertoire. Born in Philadelphia on August 10, 1954, Fisk trained under the legendary Andrés Segovia, who said that Fisk was "at the top line of our artistic world." Fisk's career has been marked by a deep commitment to both standards of the classical genre and innovative new works. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music and Russian from Yale University and a Master's degree from the Yale School of Music.

Throughout his illustrious career, Fisk has continually expanded the boundaries of classical guitar through collaborations with contemporary composers and musicians across various genres. He has a particular passion for work that bridges cultural divides, exemplified by his recent releases such as "Latin American Guitar Music," which explores the diverse sonic landscapes of Latin America, and his duo recital with flamenco guitar master Paco Peña. Fisk's dedication to the music of Bach is evident in his transcriptions of works originally for violin and harpsichord, bringing polyphony and complex Baroque textures to the realm of the six-string with albums like "Bach: The Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, BWV 1001-1006, arr. for guitar." In works like "Beaser: Guitar Concerto" and "Kurt Schwertsik: Ein Kleines Requiem, Op. 97," Fisk has premiered and recorded contemporary compositions, cementing his status as a trailblazer who continuously reinvents the classical guitar's place within the modern musical landscape.
