Dr. N. Rajam is a legendary Indian violinist, celebrated for her mastery in the Hindustani classical tradition. Originally trained in Carnatic music, she transitioned to Hindustani style under the guidance of her father, Prof. Narayan Iyer, and further refined her art with vocal training from the renowned Omkarnath Thakur. Known for her incredibly expressive playing, she developed a unique "Gayaki Ang" technique on the violin, where the instrument sounds almost like a human voice singing. Over the decades, Rajam has enchanted audiences worldwide and has earned countless awards and honors, including the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian awards. She's also been a dedicated teacher, mentoring the next generation of musicians both in India and abroad.
