Erik Leuthäuser is a Berlin-based jazz vocalist, composer, and arranger who’s been making waves in the German and international jazz scenes. Born in 1996 in Freital near Dresden, he was introduced to jazz and pop music early on by his father, a jazz guitarist and teacher. Erik studied jazz singing and composition at the Jazz-Institut Berlin, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. He’s known for his unique blend of jazz and dream pop, often singing in German and incorporating electronics into his music. His work is honest and personal, drawing from his experiences as a young gay man in Berlin.
Erik’s debut album, *In the Land of Oo-Bla-Dee*, released in 2015, featured his own German vocalese lyrics set to bebop classics and earned him a nomination for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Since then, he’s released several albums, including *Sucht* (2024) and *Quality Time in NYC* (2025), and has been recognized as a rising voice in German jazz. He also teaches vocal jazz at Hochschule Osnabrück and has performed and taught internationally, including at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory in Nepal.
