The Ozark Mountain Daredevils

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils are a Southern-fried rock band whose music blends country, rock, and folk elements into a distinctly American sound. Formed in 1972 in Springfield, Missouri, the band was made up of a group of talented songwriters and performers including John Dillon, Michael "Supe" Granda, Buddy Brayfield, Randy Chowning, Steve Cash, and Larry Lee, among others. Their self-titled first album, released in 1973, introduced their unique blend of harmonies, acoustic instrumentation, and a laid-back attitude that won them a dedicated fan base.

The band's breakthrough came with the hit single "If You Wanna Get to Heaven" in 1974, followed by "Jackie Blue" which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975. Over the years, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils continued recording and performing, maintaining a loyal following despite experiencing multiple lineup changes and the evolving music landscape. Their sound, a mixture of earthy charm and rock sensibilities, has not only endured over decades but has also seen a resurgence with re-recorded versions of their classic hits like "If You Wanna Get to Heaven" and "Jackie Blue," attesting to their lasting influence on the country-rock genre.
