Irene Lardy, born Irene Lardenoye on March 16, 1948, in Maassluis, Netherlands, is a Dutch singer who began her musical journey at a young age by studying singing, piano, and guitar. She gained early recognition by winning the first prize in the KRO talent show "Springplank" and later became "Miss Talent 1966" at a contest in Zandvoort. In 1972, she won the Youth Eurovision Song Festival. Lardy has released numerous singles, often performing in both Dutch and Limburgs dialects. Her music career included regular appearances on TV in the Netherlands and Germany, often accompanied by Jim Collin. Some of her notable songs include "Je hebt me eindeloos gekust," "Dit is de allereerste keer," and the carnaval song "Met Vastelaovend bin ich gebaore" from 1979.
In recent years, Lardy has continued to engage with the music scene, winning the "Gelaens Vastelaoves Leedjeskonkoer" in 2015 with the song "Zoa haet Bertha 't bedoeld." This song is a tribute to Bertha Paulissen-Willen, a significant figure in Limburg's carnival culture. Lardy's music reflects her roots in Limburg, where she grew up in Geleen and was involved with local carnival traditions. Her discography includes a variety of songs that showcase her versatility and connection to her cultural heritage.
