KALEO

KALEO is an Icelandic rock band known for their bluesy rock sound infused with a melodic, folk twist. Formed in 2012 in Mosfellsbær, Iceland, by frontman and guitarist JJ Julius Son (Jökull Júlíusson), drummer David Antonsson, bassist Daniel Kristjansson, and lead guitarist Rubin Pollock. KALEO quickly gained recognition in their homeland before their reach expanded internationally, thanks to their gripping, soulful songs and compelling live performances. Their debut album, "A/B," released in 2016, showcased their dynamic range from soft ballads to gritty blues-rock anthems and featured breakout hits like "Way Down We Go" and "All the Pretty Girls."

The band's follow-up efforts saw them exploring new territories while retaining their distinctive identity. With their 2021 release "Surface Sounds," KALEO continued to expand their sonic palette, showcasing the versatility that has become a hallmark of their work. Live performances such as "I Want More (Live at Skálholt)" and "Break My Baby (Live from Þrídrangar)" capture the group's raw energy and the grandeur of their homeland's landscapes, which often serve as a backdrop in their visuals. As they release stripped-back versions and live renditions, including their work from "Spotify Singles," KALEO proves their music's power in both its most bare and its fully orchestrated forms, leaving a lasting impression that has garnered a global fan base.
