Murray McLachlan

Murray McLachlan is a renowned British concert pianist known for his wide-ranging repertoire and tireless advocacy for both contemporary and underrepresented composers. A graduate of Cambridge University and the Royal Northern College of Music, McLachlan has built a reputation for his virtuosic technique and deep musical insight. His discography includes over 40 commercial recordings, covering everything from the complete piano music of Erik Chisholm and Nikolai Myaskovsky to works by American and British composers like Edward Gregson and Geoffrey Allen.

In addition to his performing career, McLachlan is a dedicated educator and writer. He serves as the Head of Keyboard at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and is a frequent contributor to music publications, sharing his thoughts on performance, pedagogy, and repertoire. Passionate about piano education and outreach, he’s also the founder of the Chetham’s International Piano Summer School, a major event that draws piano enthusiasts and professionals from around the globe.
