Krista Muir

Krista Muir is a Montreal-based indie musician and songwriter known for her quirky, genre-bending pop and playful stage presence. Since launching her own label, hypo records, in 1999, Muir has released a string of inventive albums and EPs—including recent works like "NEW MATH," "The Tides," "Guten Tag Gemini," "Accidental Railway," and "Leave Alight"—that blend elements of pop, new wave, and even polka (her alter ego, Lederhosen Lucil, is a beloved fixture in her creative output). Her music is often whimsical and multilingual, with a lyrical style that’s both poetic and disarmingly genuine.

Muir is celebrated not just for her recordings but also for her energetic live shows, where she brings a love of musical theatre, improv, and humor to the stage. She’s worn many hats over the years—singer, songwriter, performer, and even festival founder (she created the Montreal Ukulele Bizarro Festival in 2009). Collaborations with artists like DJ Kid Koala and filmmaker Kara Blake have further cemented her reputation as a creative force in Canada’s indie music scene.
