The Jim Carroll Band was an American punk rock band formed in New York City in 1978. Fronted by the charismatic and troubled poet and musician Jim Carroll, the band quickly gained a cult following for their raw, energetic live performances and Carroll's confessional lyrics, which often explored themes of addiction, alienation, and spirituality. Their most famous songs include "People Who Died," "Catholic Boy," and "Dry Dreams." Despite their critical acclaim, the band struggled with drug abuse and internal conflicts, and disbanded in 1983. Carroll continued to release solo albums and write poetry until his death in 2009.
