Gösta Winbergh was a Swedish operatic tenor who enjoyed a successful international career. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of Mozart and Wagner roles, and was considered one of the leading tenors of his generation. Winbergh was born in Stockholm in 1943 and studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. He made his professional debut in 1965 and quickly rose to prominence, appearing at major opera houses around the world. He was a regular guest at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Vienna State Opera. Winbergh died in 2002 at the age of 58.
