Kylesa

Kylesa is an American heavy metal band that emerged from the Savannah, Georgia music scene, known for its unique blend of sludge metal, psychedelic rock, and punk influences. Formed in 2001 by guitarists Philip Cope and Laura Pleasants, the band quickly established itself with a distinct sound characterized by dual vocals, weighty riffs, and their innovative use of two drummers, which added a complex rhythmic layer to their sonic identity. Their music simultaneously exudes the intensity of metal and the mind-bending contours of psychedelic rock, a fusion that has won them a dedicated following in the heavy music community.

Over the years, Kylesa has evolved with each release, refusing to be pigeonholed into a single genre. Albums like "Spiral Shadow" and "Ultraviolet" showcase their ability to push boundaries, incorporating atmospheric elements and experimental sounds into their full-throttle audio assaults. Despite going on an indefinite hiatus after their 2015 album "Exhausting Fire," the band's influence endures. In 2022, they delighted fans with remasters of earlier works, such as "Static Tensions" and "Time Will Fuse Its Worth," giving a fresh breath to their rich catalog. Their live performances, such as the one featured in "Live at Maida Vale Studio," capture the intensity and creativity that have cemented Kylesa's place in the pantheon of forward-thinking metal bands.
