Stimmhorn

Stimmhorn is a Swiss musical duo that's been reimagining Alpine traditions since the 1990s, consisting of Christian Zehnder (overtone singing, yodeling) and Balthasar Streiff (alphorn, clarinet, saxophone). These boundary-pushing artists mix ancient mountain folk sounds with avant-garde experimentation, creating atmospheric pieces that might feature everything from clanging cowbells to breathy overtone harmonics. Their releases like *Schnee* and *Inland* showcase their love for raw, organic textures and improvisation, often incorporating field recordings of nature. While deeply rooted in Swiss culture, they’ve collaborated with musicians from Mongolia to Siberia, giving their work a global nomadic vibe. Their live performances – including *Steppe & Horses (Live)* – feel like sonic hikes through both Alpine meadows and experimental jazz territories.
