Maddalena Del Gobbo is an Italian-born, award-winning viola da gamba player and classical musician known for her dedication to Baroque music. Starting her musical journey at age four with piano and cello, her extraordinary talent brought her to Vienna at thirteen to study at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität. Although initially focused on the cello, she fell in love with the viola da gamba after hearing it in a Vienna record shop, eventually dedicating her career to this unique Baroque instrument. She is notably the only Deutsche Grammophon artist specializing in the viola da gamba and has received critical acclaim for albums like *Maddalena and The Prince*, which earned distinctions such as the Supersonic award and multiple five-star reviews from prestigious music critics.
Her discography showcases her passion for blending historical Baroque music with a fresh artistic vision, including albums like *Henriette, The Princess Of Viol* and her 2025 release *Maddalena in Wonderland*. Maddalena is also the founder of the ensemble Ad Cor, which focuses on ensemble music featuring the viola da gamba. She performs on a fine instrument made by Johann Seelos in 1691, loaned from the Orpheon Foundation. Beyond performing, Maddalena is active internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, juror for competitions, and artistic patron for young musicians, contributing significantly to the classical music community.
